Reflexology is not just a foot massage… It combines precise pressure techniques that release energy blocks, to restore balance and harmony throughout your whole body.
By working or stimulating each bare foot with my hands, the internal healing potential of your body is activated. And you only need to take your socks off…
Reflexology encourages the entire body to work naturally to restore its own healthy balance and achieve wellbeing. It is a safe, gentle and non-invasive holistic therapy, suitable for people of all ages. The feet are a reflection of the whole body with reflex points and meridian lines found on the feet, which correspond to the major glands and organs of the body.
Many of my clients find having reflexology deeply relaxing, often falling asleep during the session and wake refreshed, energised and yet calmer too.
Reflexology is Effective and Helpful for:
- Back Pain
- Sports injuries
- Migraine and Headaches
- Sleep disorders
- Hormonal imbalances
- Stress related conditions
- Digestive disorders – IBS
While many people use reflexology as a way of relaxing the mind and body and counteracting stress, at the same time many doctors, consultants and other health care professionals recognise reflexology as a well established, respected and effective therapy.
Please note – Reflexology does not claim to cure, diagnose or prescribe.
What is involved in a Reflexology Treatment?
Reflexology treatments usually last an hour and to really make a noticeable difference, about 4 – 6 weekly sessions are recommended for optimum results, depending on your body’s needs.
Firstly we talk about your health and lifestyle and I make a note of your medical history – All details are held in the strictest confidence. It is particularly important you inform me of any existing medical conditions and any prescribed medication and supplements you are taking.
You will then be asked to remove your shoes and socks or tights and sit on a treatment couch, with pillows where required for support and comfort. It’s a good idea to wear something comfortable, that’s not too tight around the waist and neck area, so that you can relax.
The general appearance of your feet will be examined as any sores, infected areas or corns cannot receive pressure, and then they are gently cleaned and dried. With my bare hands I start by gently massaging and applying pressure to each foot in turn. I may use a gentle lubricant – such as shea butter, or a vegetable carrier oil… I never use talcum powder.
The application and the effect of the therapy, is unique to each person. Reflexology is not ticklish or painful; any tender areas are treated gently and the feeling tends to be soothing rather than sore.
People of all ages have benefited positively from the therapies available at Achievable Wellbeing… It’s just a matter of personal choice as to which therapy or combination of therapies you choose. Being a Jikiden Reiki practitioner, where my hands go, Reiki will flow… during a massage or a reflexology session you will also benefit from Reiki; at no extra cost.
